HackathonX was a 48-hour virtual competition, hosted by Strive Education and Crimson Education. As the largest student organised Hackathon in Southeast Asia, participants were tasked with using the p5.js library and widgets to create a program that aligned with one or more of the 3 SDGs (SDG9, SDG 11, and SDG 17).
Sign-Language Translator

The Sign-Language Translator was a 2021 HacakthonX entry, programmed using Javascript, and utilised frameworks such as the p5.js library, and Teachable Machine. The goal of this program was to allow its users to translate between SgSL (Singapore Sign Language) and English, by capturing real-time user input with a live camera. The use of Teachable Machine, allowed me to train machine learning models to recognise the various alphabets in sign language, to output its corresponding letter onto the user's screen. Through this program, I hoped to raise deaf awareness, and provide a useful tool for people to learn sign language, increasing our ease of communication with such peers. This entry eventually earned a Runner-up prize for 'Most Creative Hack'.
